Dorian Poster 2

If a picture is indeed worth a thousand words, that new one of Dorian Gray, courtesy of Empire Online, is worth but one: Creepy as Hell. I know it's more than one, I'm just too lazy to count any higher.

From director Oliver Parker, DORIAN GRAY centers on Ben "Prince Caspian" Barnes as the titular wealthy young socialite from Victorian England whose looks and health remain through the ages while a mysterious portrait of himself deteriorates with each sin committed and year that goes by.

The film, based on Oscar Wilde's novel THE PORTRAIT OF DORIAN GRAY, opens next month with a stop at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Extra Tidbit: Please, Ben, help make the atrocious memory of LXG go away for ever!

I was looking forward to this...

...and then I watched the trailer and it looks like more style over substance. Which is in some ways appropriate, but it's just looking to much like Underworld for me.

Stephen Fry is who I always imagined in the role of Lord Henry. Colin Firth was the painter for me. Oh well. So long as it gets people reading Oscar Wilde I guess it can't be that bad.

Dorian ...

... looks good. Good cast, excellent story, and if they stick to the book it's gonna be great. And Ben Barnes is excellent choice for the main role ...

a good way to make atrocious memories go away...

...is to forget about them. Seriously, why do people like getting their panties in a wad over bad movies, and then take pride in stepping back and point out how said panties stay bunched up indefinitely. Bad movie was made - get over it. Nobody thinks you are any cooler for hating a bad movie, or carrying it around like a chip on your shoulder. Ugh.
