New portrait-style image of Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel flies in

Dec. 7, 2012by:

You've got to hand it to Warner Bros. on keeping MAN OF STEEL so quiet while it's been in production. They've definitely kept up with the term "blanketed in secrecy" for the "re-introduction" of the Last Son of Krypton, as the most we've seen is some decent set pics, one official image, and two teasers. However, I have no doubt that once the marketing beast is unleashed, it will be MAN OF STEEL all over, all the time. If THE HOBBIT is any indication, I'd say we're in for a hell of a push.

Today, we have a small, but not insignificant, look at actor Henry Cavill in the role of Superman/Clark Kent, gracing the cover of Cine' Live magazine in a portrait style pic. It's not Earth-shattering, but it's in focus and there's no green screen around, so I'll consider it a small victory for fans of Supes. I'm really looking forward to the film and hoping against hope that it will bring Superman into the modern-era and out of the Donner-verse that it's been stuck in for decades.

Bring it!

The new trailer for MAN OF STEEL is set to premiere in front of THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, so expect an online release shortly before or possibly after that. Fret not. We WILL be watching.

MAN OF STEEL, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Michael Shannon, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, and Russell Crowe is set to take to the skies in 2D, 3D, and IMAX on June 14, 2013.

The suit looks great, and Cavill does look the part (if he can act the part remains to be seen). I kinda miss the spit curl, but I think I'll get over it. Now let's see Michael Shannon as Zod, please!

Got the face right at least...

Until I see his costume in action, it will continue to look too weird in still photos. Just way too much "design" and "texture" going on there, sorry...
I want to like this film!!

Liking the look. Love Zack Snyder's movies, beside Sucker Punch. That movie only would have worked if it was a minisodes all in one type deal. Wonder if DP Larry Fong is worked on this one. He's a great Cinematographer.

According to IMDB, the director of cinematography on Man of Steel is Amir Mokri. I do like Larry Fong's work too though. Super 8 was a gorgeously-shot film.

I'm Excited

I thought Snyder had a pretty terrific track record until 'Sucker Punch.' Then it seemed like EVERYONE and their grandmother turned on him and called him a hack. '300' , 'Dawn of the Dead' and 'Watchmen' were all very well received. Hopefully the speed bump on 'Sucker Punch' was only because it was his source material and not someone else's. Time will tell, but I for one, am very fucking excited for this movie.

I was annoyed at everyone turning on him too, and actually i loved Sucker Punch. Its very surreal and kind of cool, i have a feeling that in years to come ppl will like Sucker Punch. Anyway, Man of Steel looks sick.

Re: Donner-verse stuff

The Christopher Reeves Supermans were appropriate for their time. Bryan Singer's version felt like an awkward, forced and ill-conceived attempt to re-boot the franchise, while Man of Steel seems like it's as close to a genuinely thoughtful Superman movie as we've come.
