After starring together in THE EXPENDABLES 2 this past August, these first months of the 2013 see action icons Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone each headlining their own throwback-ish flick – Schwarzenegger of course has THE LAST STAND (releasing January 18th), while Stallone has Walter Hill’s BULLET TO THE HEAD with Jason Momoa, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Christian Slater, Sung Kang, and Sarah Shah.
Not quite the likes of Schwarzenegger’s Peter Stormare, Eduardo Noriega, Forest Whitaker, Jaimie Alexander, and Genesis Rodriguez, but they’ll do just fine. BULLET TO THE HEAD is its own kind of project well removed from Schwarzenegger’s, and looks to be a solid enough tale of a cop gone off the beaten path to stop the sort of violence that won’t listen to reason. Whether the rest of the movie lives up to the tone established by the recent trailer and this TV spot remains to be seen, and though my hopes are far from high I’m certainly happy to be surprised.
We’ll know soon enough though – BULLET TO THE HEAD releases February 1st.
