A mash-up of a Jane Austen literary classic and the munching undead is odd enough... so why not add an unorthodox auteur?

According to Pajiba, purportedly impulsive director David O. Russell (THREE KINGS, I ♥ HUCKABEES) is raising the deceased for the adaptation PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES, based on the recent remix novel.

As was officially announced the other day, the divine Natalie Portman will star as heroine Elizabeth Bennet, who now finds her attention divided between the pompous Mr. Darcy and her own war against hordes of flesh-eating rotters. Portman is also producing, along with Richard Kelly's Darko Films.

Russell is currently turning the screws on the boxing story THE FIGHTER, which he picked up after Darren Aronofsky, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon retreated (the movie now stars Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg).

Hopefully they go campy for this. If they try to play it serious it will fail miserably. And as much as I love Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley will always be the only Elizabeth Bennett to me.

I worked on The Fighter. This guy is AWFUL. He yelled at everyone on set and even flipped out at the police officers at one point because we were filming on a main street and two ambulances had to come by. He thought that someone was trying to sabotage his movie. He's insane. And besides 3 Kings, not a very good director. What an overrated tool. Mark my words, The Fighter will be completely...

Mark my words, The Fighter will be completely bland and by the books if it is anything like what I saw being filmed.

This project sounds kind of weird to begin with, too. Even though it was Zombie-less, didn't Kiera Knightely JUST play Elizabeth Bennett? It just seems like any scene without zombies is going to seem weak compared to the last P&P, weakening it when the Zombies do come in.

We'll see what happens...But I am expecting it to be pretty solid.

Well, this movie is shaping up to be something incredibly odd. I'm not sure what to think, but Natalie Portman still gets me excited.

He's an insanely good director but yeah, he's a pretentious prick. He got into a fistfight with George Clooney on the Three Kings set over an extra making a mistake.
