Lately I've been hearing so much about WIN WIN. It did great at Sundance and finally there's a trailer for the film.

Verdict on the trailer? WIN WIN looks great. Paul Giamatti plays an attorney/part time wrestling coach who ends up taking in a young boy. Despite his troublesome past, the kid is great at wrestling and gives some hope to Giamatti. Amy Ryan plays the role of Giamatti's wife and seems to have the same kind of warmth that she does as Holly on THE OFFICE. The film was directed and co-written by Tom McCarthy (THE STATION AGENT, THE VISITOR).

Check out the trailer below. For the HD version, head on over to Apple Trailers. There's also two clips from the movie: here and here.

Synopsis:

"Disheartened attorney Mike Flaherty (Paul Giamatti), who moonlights as a high school wrestling coach, stumbles across a star athlete through some questionable business dealings while trying to support his family. Just as it looks like he will get a double payday, the boy's mother shows up fresh from rehab and flat broke, threatening to derail everything."

WOW

Man, this looks awesome. Other than Vision Quest and Reversal, us wrestlers don't have many movies we can be proud of or look forward to. Giamatti is always a win and the kid is obviously very well trained. The Granby roll and hip-toss this kid performs in this trailer are amazing.

This looks fantastic. Love the premise and really like the cast (Giamatti and Tambor are very underrated).

It's movies like this that make me love independent movies and wish there were more of.

Some scenes were filmed down the block from me. I didn't gt to see the actual filming but i got to walk around the staging area and check out all the equipment, the crew ( talked to one of the unpaid gophers ) and i saw the house were they filmed some scenes that are in the trailer.

Then a van pulls up and Gman gets out, he proceeds to head towards the front of the house to chat with the crew then he walks around the block to the craft table . My friend and i followed him around the block

Then a van pulls up and Gman gets out, he proceeds to head towards the front of the house to chat with the crew then he walks around the block to the craft table . My friend and i followed him around the block and he eventually walked past us as he heading back to the house with a coffee cup in his hand ( yeah, that's my brush with fame). Some young girl on a bike said hi to him, he raised his head slightly, somewhat quickly and said hi, thn put his head back down and then kept on going, we left after that. He was way shorter than i imagined, i'm thinking 5'2 or 3 , they always look taller on film i guess unless he just seemed shorter because he had his head down, guess he didn't want to be bothered.

What surprised me was the relaxed atmosphere. We walked all over the place without anyone saying anything and we were right across the street from the house they were filming at for about an hour. There was one RVCPD officer stationed on the corner, i'm guessing for security/crowd control. It wasn't needed though, it wasn't like there were hundreds of curious persons lurking around.

Yeah, i was bored and curious, it's not everyday a major studio film is made in Rockville Center. I heard they filmed in other parts of Long Island also, and Manhattan i think.

I really enjoyed that experience and it looks like they even filmed in Hempstead Lake state Park ( the scenes in the "woods" when they are jogging and they have to call an ambulance ) . It's funny because in the trailer , the place looks somewhat remote but it's right next to a major road . The place looks like crystal lake from certain angles.

The film looks okay although i'm mainly just curious about how RVC looks on the big screen . Even familiar places looked different with a bit of movie magic.

Jesus...

I mistook Cannavale's voice for Jeffrey Tambor at the beginning and then next thing you know, Tambor appears as a different character in the film. *shiver*
