Paul Rudd and Steve Carell have Dinner for Schmucks in this trailer

04.06.2010by:

Steve Carell and his 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN co-star Paul Rudd are back, but the roles aren't quite the same. Although Carell is still the lovable buffoon... and he does excel at it.

DINNER FOR SCHMUCKS (a remake of the French comedy THE DINNER GAME) comes from AUSTIN POWERS and MEET THE PARENTS director Jay Roach, and seems to have half of "The Daily Show"'s past correspondents in it. Nice to see Ron Livingston too!

The synopsis: Tim (Rudd) is a guy on the verge of having it all. The only thing standing between him and total career success is finding the perfect guest to bring to his boss' annual Dinner for Extraordinary People, an event where the winner of the evening brings the most eccentric character as his guest. Enter Barry (Carell), a guy with a passion for dressing mice up in tiny outfits to recreate great works of art.

Extra Tidbit: Happy birthday, Paul Rudd!

The cast is great and Galifiankis looks like the best part judging from that A.D.D. trailer. I've heard the script is really funny but the trailer was pretty passable.

Then again, you can't go wrong with Paul Rudd. He's never bothered me in the least and as long as he's the lead in something, it's worthy in my opinion.

Steve Carell being WACKY again!

If the filmmakers intention was to take an American comedian and have him completely fnck up & shit on a great foreign original, they sure picked the right guy!

Make that money, Steve!

I agree with the previous statements that it seems nothing like the original. The original was pretty funny, this remake is gonna need some better marketing than just presenting the stars. On the fence for now.

Do they REALLY call it a remake?

Huuuh, I don't know if anyone has seen the French version, but apart from the fact that they have a dinner with retards, there are no other similarities from the original. It sure does look cool, it's just that it's not a remake. See the orignal, it's so good!

except the whole injured back thing. but i see what you're saying and I agree, its better for them to change it enough because it cant compare to the original, which is one of if not the best comedy of all time.

I agree that its different, but a remake is like an adaptation. Doesnt mean it has to be faithful.

Wow! This is far from the charming and hilarious original film. In a way Im glad its different cause I wont be thinking how they're ruining everything with this version the entire time I watch the film. I'll judge it on its own when I see it.

"He's Eating It!!"

I've been dieing to see this movie. Based off the trailer, it looks really funny and Rudd and Carell have great chemistry in it. Plus Zach G from The Hangover as a mind reader or controller? That's awesome. Also, glad to see Ron Livingston getting more work too.

Based on that trailer,it will have to be a strong word of mouth. And i think i would have to check out the original French version first.
