Hey Jodie Foster, where ya been?

The actress has actually been working steadily here and there. Last year she did an episode of THE SIMPSONS, in 2008 it was NIM'S ISLAND, and she just completed work on THE BEAVER with our favorite nut Mel Gibson.

Someone else wants wants her for a job as well, that someone being Ron Howard. Sony pictures and Imagine Entertainment have joined to acquire the rights to the novel, "My Stroke of Insight" by Jill Bolte Taylor. The book chronicles the author's journey back from a debilitating stroke. Ron Howard has signed on to direct and wants Foster to take the lead in the film.

Semi Chellas who has written television series and movies will pen the script. Howard and his Imagine partner Brian Grazer will produce. The author of the book with be executive producing alongside Ellen Steifler.

Here is a summary of the book:

"In late 1996, the 37-year old Taylor suffered a massive stroke caused by a blood vessel that exploded in the left side of her brain. A Harvard-trained neuro-anatomist, Taylor's brain function deteriorated in a matter or hours to where she couldn't walk, read or write, or even recall past memories. It took 8 years for her to mend. Her knowledge of how the brain works gave her the opportunity to experience and write about brain recovery that became at times a mystical experience, as the right half compensated for the damaged left half and infused her with feelings of peace and well-being that she has tried to retain, even after struggling to reclaim her life and standing in the scientific community."

Foster isn't attached just yet. Hopefully she joins, I actually kind of miss her.

I love Ron Howard, so I give him the benefit of a doubt with anything he is involved in.

re:msgeiter

Definitely go to TEDtalks and look up the video of Jill Bolte Taylor's presentation. Its definitely inspirational as well as awe inspiring to know how our bodies can tune us into alternate states of perception.

The only downside I see for this movie is Howard dumbing down or just not being able to convey the feeling and events she experienced during her stroke to the audience without making it come off as some goofy hippy trip. The way it is in the book is long and fascinating and terrifying

The way it is in the book is long and fascinating and terrifying at the same time cause one minute she's in peace and tranquility and the next she's coming back out of it and her subconsciousness is telling her YOU NEED HELP, GET HELP, CALL FOR HELP! The part where she can't recognize the meaning of words and numbers and therefore can't dial 911 is astonishing.

If Jodie Foster goes back to giving quality performances in good movies, I will be very happy. I grew up thinking she was just about the best there is (she won two Oscars in three years, didn't she?). She's the role model of all the best child-actresses, and made probably my favorite movie centering around the Thanksgiving holiday. I'd have to double-check to be sure.
