Sacha Baron Cohen looks stately in wordless Dictator poster

Dec. 19, 2011by: Paul Tassi

It's a bad year for dictators, as the fall of many across the world included the death of North Korea's Kim Jong-Il last night.

But Sacha Baron Cohen is hoping to turn dictator fever into something of a pop culture trend, as he plays a clueless despot in THE DICTATOR.

A new teaser poster for the film is below, and though it features none of the traditional movie posters titles or credits, if you know anything about upcoming movies, you'll recognize the titular character on sight.

Check it out below, and see it bigger at the Pimpin' Poster Palace.

Extra Tidbit: I think a straight-faced adaptation of Saddam Hussein's insane book would have been better than this goofy variant that seems like a bad Rob Schnieder concept.

Here's what I'm thinking. This trailer may be funny and may not be funny to whoever sees it. BUT, if Borat or even Bruno taught me anything. The great material that he comes up with stays out of the trailer.

People were praising that pile of shit from Tim & Eric but they are hating this??? The trailer was by far the funniest thing I have seen all year long!

Whatever.. I'm hyped for this and Baron Cohen is a great comedian!

Just me?

Am I the only one who originally saw this somewhere else and thought it was another bad Adam Sandler film?

Am I alone here?

Joblo posted a trailer a week or so ago and I watched it and thought this looked awful...I watched the trailer and didn't even smile. When I read the posts, everybody (at that point) said it looked funny and great and yadda yadda. I don't smash other people for having a different opinion than me but I was genuinely shocked at how funny everybody thought this looked. Don't get me wrong, I can enjoy it when people push the envelope of human decency and I don't get easily offended but I just

I felt like when the script was written he thought, "what can I say or do that would be in bad taste or offensive?" I didn't find the jokes offensive, I just found them lame. I just need to know if I am alone on this? If I am, I can deal with it. I am just curious.

Don't think there's a bandwagon on this one, just people not laughing at something that doesn't look funny. But who knows, just a trailer.

The bit with him racing and shooting people was the best thing in the trailer. And the line with Megan Fox.
