Script for Prometheus 2 is finished says Ridley Scott, plus Michael Fassbender on the delays

Although we recently learned a comic book sequel to PROMETHEUS was in the works, it looks like the film sequel isn't dead. Director Ridley Scott told Empire the other day that, "Prometheus 2 is written. I have already got the next two films ready to go. That will be 2014, 2015…" Neither of the films he will be working on in 2014 or 2015 will be a PROMETHEUS sequel though: one is the biblical movie EXODUS starring Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton, and the other could be an adaptation of the Joe Haldeman novel The Forever War.

So if the script is finished, what's the hold-up on PROMETHEUS 2? Yahoo! spoke with Michael Fassbender yesterday, and asked him the same question.

“Everybody’s asking this, it’s cool!” he laughed. “You know, it takes time…. I don’t want them to rush it. I mean the reason that Pixar movies are so amazing is because they spend years throwing it out the window, re-jigging it, coming up with an idea, breaking it down, starting again, you know.”

"So to make it correctly, I think it’s actually very encouraging,” he added. “Because a lot of the times they’re like ‘we made some money let’s jump on the back of this. We wanna make more money again as soon as possible.’”

“[But] it’s nice to actually have a little bit of time to develop it.”

Personally, I enjoyed most of PROMETHEUS, but there are some big flaws in it, and the third act really annoyed me. Everyone has their own opinion on the divisive Ridley Scott movie, however I think most of you would be interested in another film. But hey, Damon Lindelof isn't writing the sequel, so some of you must be optimistic, right?

It could be a few years before we see a sequel to PROMETHEUS, but if and when it does happen, I'll definitely want to check it out.
