Second Shutter trailer

10.02.2009

Watching this new trailer for SHUTTER ISLAND depresses me.

It just looks so damn good! I was looking forward to seeing it this month and the bastards pushed it to February. Of course I can wait, but the trailer just teases me.

Personally, this trailer is better than the first one. It gives you a bit more, but not so much that you already know the entire outcome of the movie. If for some reason you do though, I'm pleased with your cleverness and the fact that you read the book. You can check out the HD version of the trailer RIGHT HERE.

Extra Tidbit: For those of you who read the actual book by Dennis Lehane, how was it? I'm currently making another one of my lists of books to read.

This is quite a change of pace for Scorsese, but I cannot wait to see what he does with it. Dennis Lehane's books have lent themselves to amazing movies (Gone Baby Gone being my favorite).

awesome book

First of all, I know this looks like a horror movie but unless they changed a bunch of stuff from the book this isn't a horror story. It is a very gripping psychological suspense story but no scares to speak of. After reading the book, i must say I am defenitly looking forward to February.

Book Review

I read the book and even though I admit it kept me reading to the end (I'm very quick to put a book down without a second chance at even the slightest slow down) I saw the "twist" coming from a mile away and rolled my eyes...hard. I expected more from Lehane and pretty much called it from the start. Sharp movie fans will pick up on this I think from the very beginning unless Scorsese just outright lies to the audience. People are smart these days and I think it'll be an easy guess for most.

It's a toss up I'd say really. Give it a shot! If by the 4th chapter or so you think you've got the twist figured out, go with your instinct; you're probably right!

"How was the book?"

It's a very good thriller with a nice twist, but I get the feeling that the twist will come across as fairly predictable and obvious to cinema audiences. I'd definitely recommend reading it before seeing the film.

Good stuff.

Another 4 months is upsetting, but I'm interested as hell to see a horror movie from Martin Scorcese.

Amazing

I'll be the nerd and confess to reading the book. It is amazing! At no point do you fully know the depth of what is going on.

wow

Indeed Plainview, Rob Richardson is a master of his craft. Shutter Island is probably going to be the movie of the year. I was recently chatting with some grips who worked on the film when I was in Boston where they shot the picture, nothing but good things they had to say about it. Marty is really back on top of his game here...a true return to form.
MORE Jackie Earl Haley for all!!!

HUGE Improvement

The first trailer sold this movie as a derivative thriller. Thankfully the studio got wise and decided on a more stylishly crafted trailer that really creates a nice sense of unease. Looking forward to it.

Yer a rat in a maze..

Badass. Go to minute 1:44 exactly after Dicaprio's name comes on screen and tell me he doesn't look like a Basterd.

wow

Cannot wait to see this sob.
The trailer looks so dark and gritty.
@ozinator22 - it's not De Niro but Elias Koteas. The two have always looked like long lost brothers to me :-)

Elias Koteas always reminded me of Christopher Meloni.

Scorese did a good thing in casting Koteas, I think.

The book is great. The amount of twist that follow one after the other makes it the not so typical psychological thriller.

The Book

I enjoyed the book, itís a pretty fun read. Iím excited for the film, but one thing that I am not sure about is how the trailers make the film look like a horror movie, when the book is more of a mystery/thriller.

I don't think it looks so much like a horror movie but rather just an eerie film. Some parts look creepy but I still got the impression it was more of a mystery story.
