Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg sign up for Neighborhood Watch

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH is one of those comedies that has been floating around Hollywood for what seems like forever. Directors Shawn Levy, David Dobkin and Pete Segal were all at one time attached to the project and Will Ferrell was attached to star. But as most of those names have moved on (Levy is still producing), Fox has brought in some comedy heavyweights to breathe some life into the project.

Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg have been hired to rewrite the existing script from Jared Stern. While nothing is confirmed at this point, it’s expected that Rogen would eventually star in the film.

WATCH takes place in suburbia where a bunch of bored guys set up a neighborhood watch to get away from their families and girlfriends. But when they mistakenly stumble on actual danger (say it with me now…) hijinks ensue. The original was written as a more family-friendly comedy and it’s unclear whether Rogen will provide a raunchy spin on the material or stick to the current tone of the script.
