Amanda Seyfried, she whose tingly boobs could predict the weather from MEAN GIRLS, has signed on to star in DEAR JOHN, an upcoming romance film from director Lasse Hallstrom (THE CIDER HOUSE RULES). The film is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks making it the second time a MEAN GIRLS alum has starred in a Sparks adaptation (previously Rachel McAdams in THE NOTEBOOK). Seyfried will star alongside Channing Tatum as a young couple that falls in love while the guy is on leave from the Army. Sony-based Screen Gems will distribute here in the US. Movie will be the third film in a row that Tatum will be playing a soldier of some kind after STOP-LOSS and GI JOE. Seyfried is currently wrapping up filming on Season 3 of HBO’s “Big Love” and has JENNIFER’S BODY on the way in early 2009.
