It seems as though the USS Enterprise has suffered a warp core breach, or needs to stay in space dock for nacelle refitting, or has run low on dilithium crystals, or whatever TREK-ism you prefer (I just exhausted my supply).
Either way, JJ Abrams’ revamped STAR TREK feature won’t be hitting theaters until 2009. Originally planned for release in December of this year, Paramount has shifted it to open next summer’s movie season on May 9, where it is currently uncontested.
The more cynical among us might find it coincidental that the move came the same day as the writers’ strike ending, implying that the script might still require some attention…
