TF2 is Awesome

04.15.2009

Michael Bay has shown his cut of TRANSFORMERS 2: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN to producer Steven Spielberg. Of course, everything went swimmingly.

"Steven Spielberg sat next to me in a big 100 person theater at Sony today. There were 98 empty seats. The lights came up after we just watched my cut of Revenge of the Fallen. He turned to me and said "It's awesome". He felt this movie was better then the first - and probably my best, who knows - at this point in a movie you start to lose your objectivity. I just hope the fans like it. I'm going to start putting it in front of audiences in a few weeks - no you are not invited, yet."

Some journalist somewhere seriously needs to ask Bay about his feelings on the Holocaust. Just so that we have a point of reference for his adjectives, so we can gauge his comments accordingly.
Extra Tidbit: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN will open on the 25th anniversary of the TRANSFORMERS animated movie from 1984.

"The whole point of the movie was the people are caught in the middle of a war between robots."

That was the main problem right there: It shouldn't have been about the fucking humans at all. It should've been more in line with Transformers: The Movie from 1986.

what?

nodirectionhome, What did you watch cause what I watched was what exactly I was expecting when I heard they were making a Transformers movie. Just so you know, it takes an ass load of money to put the Transformers on the screen. The whole point of the movie was the people are caught in the middle of a war between robots. If you dont show the people then the whole story doesn't work.

i thought the first one was OK, but having seen it a couple more times on HBO, i hate it a little more each time. i mean, if you people really thought it was just going to end up being a good stupid action movie, and say that is what he wanted, why the hell would he give the human characters more screen time than the actual namesakes of the film. if you want stupid action movie, a giant orgy of robot action seems to fit the bill, not scenes of mind numbing and unfocused action scenes between

Yup

Not going to judge the film before I see it for myself. But I'll echo nodirectionhome & PuffCity's sentiments. Indiana Jones IV was an unequivocal disaster, much in the same vein as Transformers I. Horrible in practically every department, short of a very few selective things.

Though I'm not one to judge Spielberg that harshly. The after 80's Spielberg brought us Minority Report, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, War of The Worlds etc, etc. So I don't think he's lost his

That said. Nothing, absolutely nothing, in my opinion, not even the company of one of the most acclaimed directors in film history can induce a director like Michael Bay to come up with an actual film.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I sincerely hope I'm wrong this time around, but if Bay's track record is anything to go buy, I highly doubt it.

Besides, what else is Spielberg going to say when he's the producer: "This is crap Michael! Fuck, do you have any God damned idea how to actually direct! Now go and shoot the whole thing again. And for the love of Christ! Stop with the effin' shaky cam!" Yeah... I don't think so.

Let's be honest, Star Trek is boring as shit, and I love sci-fi. The upcoming Star Trek movie does look awesome however. I haven't really met any "Hardcore Transformers Nerds", but I know a lot of people who love the movie just because it does what it's meant to do. Of course it's not a masterpiece, it's a Michael Bay flick. So if you want to see some shit blow up, stupid premises, hot chicks, and other assorted action packed sequences for your own enjoyment, then you're golden. It's ok to

Perhaps Id be excited by this comment had it been in the 80's before Speilberg sold himself out to the Hollywood system. But given the man's current record, its just not credible. How exactly does one not improve Transformers, the first was a horrible loud uneducated mess. All Im saying is consider the source.

Transformers was a terrible movie, not that hard to do better. And no, I'm not a Transformers fan or a Michael Bay hater. I actually think Transformers was Michael Bay's worst movie (I liked all of his movies, except Pearl Harbor which I haven't seen).

The only thing worse than Trekkies are Transformers fans.

Transformers nerds are annoying. They're fans of a mediocre children's franchise -- which is fine, except they seem to think it's some kind of sacred, holy subject. Dudes, it's cars that turn into robots. Chill the fuck out.

In real life it seems like most people did enjoy the first film. The nerds hated it because it didn't fulfill their expectations or requirements, but to everyone else, it was exactly as advertised -- a fun, extravagant, action-packed summer blockbuster. And I thought it

And I thought it was the only good Michael Bay film, even though all his flicks are usually overlong by about 20 minutes. I didn't see it in theaters because I don't give a shit about Transformers and wasn't a fan of his previous work, but this will probably be fun.

awesome

This movie could have Arcee doing a strip tease on the Washington Monument while Bumblebee, Optimus, and Rachet were all masterbating to her for 2 1/2 hrs, and this movie would still be awesome in my eyes.

It may be the best Michael Bay film yet, but the best Michaels Bay film is analogous to the most enjoyable time I got kicked in the balls.

Well besides this "news" is obviously worthless (since it's just pr, who cares), I didn't expect anything else.
I really hope this will the first real Bay movie since years... where... enough Bay is in it actually.
I mean, even a Bay movie so far was too little Bay like. While I don't care for the Transformers themselves (the idea itself is pretty pathetic), I just so can't wait to see T2 on a real big screen... One of the veeeeeeeeeerry few movies in movie history which theatres were built
