The complete Indiana Jones Blu-ray collection will be dug up this fall!

02.29.2012

The long-awaited Blu-ray release of the complete INDIANA JONES series will finally hit the format this fall. The official press release from Paramount says the series, "will be excavated in the fall of 2012 and will include all four of Indy’s thrilling adventures, using the highest possible high definition picture and audio presentation – along with a “best of” collection of documentaries, interviews, featurettes and a few new surprises."

Good news for collectors and those of us who'd like to see Indy globe-trotting the world in high def.  Of course it will include everyone's least favorite of the films (THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL), but the first three are there, so all is well in the home video world.  I don't despise the fourth film, but I'd never defend it against the other three.  There's just no contest.

INDIANA JONES is a staple of movie culture and deserves his rightful place in the Blu-ray format.  For everyone who's wants to see Mola Ram rip out a heart or see Walter Donovan turn into a skeleton within seconds in 1080p, then your dream has come true.  I'm pretty stoked to see how these look.

Look for an official street date to land on the map shortly.

Extra Tidbit: Favorite Indy and why? I'm torn between Temple of Doom and Last Crusade. I know some consider that blasphemy against Raiders, but that doesn't mean I don't love it as well.

"best of" collection of documentaries ?
So , they have SO MUCH space on these discs and they CAN'T EVEN give us ALL the previous docs en some new ones (and deleted scenes...)? WTF!
HOOOO, I SEEEE... Lucas wants some more bonus materials to do ANOTHER box set in a few years!!! In 3D probably!

"She talks in her sleep"

Dr. Henry Jones senior getting there first with Elsa Schneider before Junior wins the cake. My favor of the sequels changed over the years. Temple of Doom was what I like the most as a child because of the awesome minecart ride , insect infestations, and the heart ripping scenes. Then I grew up and loved Crusade because of the sexy nazi chick, the holy grail, and Sean friggin' Connery. With that, I think I chose wisely. Oh and you would have to remove Crystal Skull in order to make that the

Extra Tidbit

The Last Crusade.
This one is not about Indy and a girl but Indy and his Father. And who plays his father? James Bond himself, that's who!

I like them all but Temple of Doom is my favorite. It does what a sequel should do, take the same character and throw him in a completely different situation.
Crusade was a bit too slapstick for my tastes but I still like it.

Last Crusade is my favorite. I loved how it started by showing us young Indy, and gave us the perfect ending for the trilogy with Indy riding into the sunset. The 4th movie kinda ruined that ending, but I don't quite hate it, despite it being the weakest film by far.

Favorite Indy? More like a favorite Trilogy! But if I had to choose, I'd choose The Last Crusade. It has the right drama, right comedy, right action, and right chemistry from all the casts.

Favorite Indy?

More like favorite movie ever: Last Crusade. It is literally the perfect movie, not a single misstep, it took everything amazing about Raiders and added Sean Fucking Connery.

George Lucas approving a Blu-Ray release can mean only one thing:

They're making a fifth one.

Other than the mokey scene Crystal Skull wasn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

It's not. But it was trying to regrasp the glory of the originals instead of trying to do something different. To me it's like Lucas was Elsa Schneider hanging over the edge reaching for the grail.

Raiders definitely. I love all 3 and Temple of Doom has the best 3rd act out of all of them, but Raiders is just too iconic and the truck chase is still my favorite action sequence of all time.

Temple was always be my favorite. Yes, Raiders is the strongest, but Temple was one of the first movies I saw in theaters, plus the plot is pretty out there, for a sequel (prequel), making no attempt to replicate what worked in Raiders, expect for maybe the fist fight in the tunnels. From the opening in the club to the bridge sequence, I loved every minute.
