The Death of Stalin showcases hilarious work from Tambor, Buscemi & more

Joseph Stalin was a very serious man indeed, but that doesn't mean he can’t be the subject of a hilarious comedy. THE DEATH OF STALIN takes a satirical look at the events that transpired after Stalin's death in 1953, with IN THE LOOP’s Armando Iannucci leading an all-star class of actors including Jeffery Tambor, Steve Buscemi, Jason Isaacs, Paddy Considine, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough and the one and only Michael Palin. You can check out the absurdity above, and keep in mind that politics is probably exactly like this.

Having a mockumentary feel to it, the trailer succeeds thanks to the work from the cast, with Tambor stealing the show and Isaacs getting to break loose from his more serious canon of work. I didn’t know what to think of the movie when I first went to watch the trailer, but by the end, I was in stitches. Comedies like this that let the actors run with their instincts almost always make for hilarious pieces of work, and much like IN THE LOOP, THE DEATH OF STALIN could be a welcome treat to cap off the year.

THE DEATH OF STALIN is set for October 20.
