The Exorcism of Emily Rose director Scott Derrickson to go head to head with Goliath

Scott Derrickson is in talks with Relativity Media to get Biblical on our ass with GOLIATH. This would be a retelling of David and Goliath and they want it 300 style. You know the story– shit gets real, epic battle goes down with a big dude, and same dude gets defeated with a slingshot. After all that…a slingshot? Where’s the decapitation???

Derrickson would helm the film with a script by John D. Payne and Patrick McKay. Like I said, the feel is supposed to be 300 meets THE BOURNE IDENTITY, but ya know…Biblical. Here’s the story summary:

“The story is set in motion when the fierce warrior Goliath is sent to track down a foretold king of the Israelites. A young shepherd David is thrust into an epic chase and adventure fighting for his own life, the lives of his loved ones and eventually the lives of his people. The story climaxes in a battle of literal Biblical proportions between the young man and the giant sent to destroy him.”

The last thing Derrickson directed was the remake of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL with Keanu Reeves in 2008. Ryan Kavanaugh of Relativity as well as Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen of Temple Hill (THE TWILIGHT SAGA) will be producing.
