"The federal prison sentence handed down in this case sends a strong message..." Yes, that message is our legal system is flawed and can be easily bought...

Yet the person he bought it from didn't get any time? What about the person at FOX who leaked it, what did he get?

Better yet, they want to send a message? Walk down Broadway in NYC and arrest all the bootleggers that have actual shops on the street.

Does anyone remember the other ad, where they had a stunt man complaining about pirated movies? About how it cuts into his pay and hurts the others associated with the production. If I was in fanboy geek court I would site Mr. Pink v. Waitress. Don't ask the customer to help you out, your part of something that serves them (the movie they pay for, or steal). Ask your fucking union why you don't get paid enough, they'll(Studio Fucks) tell you a line of bull shit about pirating or some other

What if some executive from the film company originally leaked it. If it caught on and people liked it then that executive would've generated positive buzz about the movie. Unfortunately it was a piece of shit film and most people saw that even though it was unfinished at the time. Now this guy is going to jail because we've got to make the example that if people are going to be entertained they bloody well better be price gouged whilst doing so! He wasn't actually the one who leaked it online, though. Scene groups (piracy groups) leaked it! That's where I don't think these courts really understand how piracy works. This guy bought a copy after it had already been distributed, but was probably dumb enough to upload it to a website or something. It's like, yeah, he might have helped spread it around, but go after the people who are really responsible for the initial infringement!

Devil's advocate, what he did had a serious impact on the movie's box office takes, since the early leak and the bad word of mouth that spread about how terrible the movie really was, caused many to skip it. That's the reason they got so aggressive with this guy. Of course, if they had made a better movie, it wouldn't have been an issue. So, plenty of blame to go around there.
