Is M. Night Shyamalan's latest twist ending that he made a good movie this time? We won't know for sure until July 2nd, but the Super Bowl spot for THE LAST AIRBENDER sure has plenty of flashy FX.

The live-action adaptation of the Miyazaki-influenced animated TV series (which drops the original AVATAR name, for obvious Cameron-related reasons) is set in a fantasy world and follows a reluctant young hero who can manipulate the elements using martial arts and CGI.

Small return back to glory
This will be big for kids..not fans of M. Night [link] will try to do a sequel, or something like it and then fail at it just like in the "horror" genre

Looking good but....
This looks great as far as the scenery, graphics and fight sequences. Its spot on with the cartoon.



BUT.



From the looks of this teaser it seems M. Night has taken away the Fire Nation's ability to create fire at will. I hope that isn't the case, otherwise the Fire Nation is the WEAKEST nation because anyone could beat them as long as they keep fire away from...

The first trailer for this was pretty "meh," but this teaser definitely showcases the FX/Action portion of the movie, and that portion seems to be shaping up nicely.



I know practically nothing about the story or characters since I don't think I've ever seen an entire episode of the cartoon, but if this is just a sweet action movie with a shitty story I'll probably still come out...
The first trailer for this was pretty "meh," but this teaser definitely showcases the FX/Action portion of the movie, and that portion seems to be shaping up nicely.

This movie is going to be amazing.Anyone who watched the cartoon knows that this is as close as a live action movie can get. And everybody needs to leave shyamalan alone,so what if he made three bad movies when you compare those movies to unbreakable,signs,and the sixth sense it balances itself out. Am I the only one who liked lady in the water and the village(until we found out the monsters...

I liked Lady In The Water and I thought The Village was alright (the twist with the monsters was lame but the fact that the movie was taking place during current day was a much better twist). I think what turns people off of Shyamalan the most is his god-complex. His ego is debatable, but casting yourself as a writer who changes the world in your own movie isn't really that modest.

Of course. Two reasons, I watch the Superbowl for the game itself... being a football fan and all. Secondly, since I'm in Canada, we don't get all the big hype commercials anyway, so it's always just been about the game, and not the hoopla.

I never watched the show much, and what I did see didn't impress me, but this footage did. If M.Night can keep the story tight this could be a sleeper hit.

I agree with DaForce, and also NoirMan82 the show might've been geared towards a younger audience but the characters are actually deep and the sequence of events are fantastic enough for adults. I think you'll enjoy it as well as the rest of the world.

Considering that this cartoon was almost as popular with kids as Pokemon, I think it's going to be A LOT more than a sleeper hit.

I caught this last night. So far so good. I wasn't worried about them doing the action correctly, they definitely got that down. I'm just worried about the story and whether or not the characters are done justice. Hopefully Night doesn't fuck it up. I own every episode of Airbender on DVD. It's boss.
