Filmmaker Mark Pellington must have an HBO subscription.
The director has invited “Hung” man-whore Thomas Jane and “Entourage” über-agent Jeremy Piven to join his ensemble thriller I MELT WITH YOU, described as following “the interconnected lives of four men.” Unless there’s some kind of twist, Jane and Piven are, clearly, two of them.
Pellington (ARLINGTON ROAD, HENRY POOLE IS HERE) had this to say to Deadline: “It is hard to get anything idiosyncratic made for a budget. I have been shooting music videos on small cameras at low cost and wanted to apply it to a film. This is about four guys and deals with mortality, aging and friendship. It is very dark and very low budget. I have nothing against the larger budget movies I have made. I just want to make movies and doing it this way improves my chances.”
How low budget? Around a million bucks. Jane and Piven and whoever else works on this are obviously interested in the art of it more than the paycheck. Rare and refreshing.
