Thor 3 script reportedly Marvel's darkest yet; may feature the Valkyries

10.14.2015

Thor: Ragnarok Taika Waititi Chris Hemsworth Mark Ruffalo Banner

On the heels of our recent THOR: RAGNAROK scoop comes word from Birth.Movies.Death that they'e also heard a few things about the upcoming Marvel film. The site confirmed our report about Mark Ruffalo's the Hulk appearing in the threequel, and adds that the superhero will have a major role in the movie, as he and Chris Hemsworth's Thor "will be taking a cosmic road trip together, Hope and Crosby style."

BMD goes on to claim that the Hulk and Thor will meet Valkyries during their journey, however it's not clear if it'll be the group of beings who bring the gods to Valhalla after they die or Valkyrie aka Brunnhilde, the standalone superheroine and member of The Defenders. The site speculates that the third Thor film may finally introduce The Enchantress, due to her being an enemy of Valkyrie, and says "Marvel thinks they're going to cast some great women in this movie."

Sources also tell BMD that because the film is so dark, Marvel decided to hire comedy director Taika Waititi "to balance out the grimness of the script and bring it tonally a little closer to what Marvel fans have come to expect." They believe Waititi might be joined by another writer "to help brighten the corners of Ragnarok while maintaining writer Christopher Yost's apocalyptic vibe." What are your thoughts on the latest THOR: RAGNAROK rumors?

THOR: RAGNAROK will be in theaters on November 3, 2017.

Darkest yet? Knowing Marvel, they'll turn this into yet another comedy adventure featuring superheroes. Remember when Age of Ultron was suppose to be dark and menacing? Well, we're all know how that movie turned out.

Some MCU films find the right balance of humor and seriousness (Iron Man, Winter Soldier), whereas others (Iron Man 3, Thor 2) don't. Trying to force too much comedy into the film takes away from the danger and tension in key moments, and the final product feels mediocre. This feels like the classic case of trying to please too many people (fans who want a darker film, fans who want it to be like every other MCU film), and therefore really pleasing no one.

Yeah sure..

Darkest yet huh? Well whenever these people say this stupid shit its norm the lightest one and features no grimness or darkness at all. They always say that shit with the walking dead or any show. I think the only time I actually heard somebody say something will be dark and messed up was in Game of thrones. They keep to their word. I would love to see something dark from thor, and see some heros bite the dust or something messed up but we all know that'll never ever happen.

I really hope Thor gets a good movie this time out, I loved the first Thor and then the second was so mediocre. I thought the writing was poor and the villain a complete waste of time, add to the fact they wasted Kurse. I really hope in Ragnarok we see a proper Surtur, I feel the whole Thor but has been a bit disappointing from the Warriors 3 to the lack of Beta Ray Bill. My other fear in Thor 3 is we may see the whole 'what's happened the Odin' glossed over. I'm curious to see where Banner

I'm curious to see where Banner fits in, my thoughts are they may run with a predominantly Hulk character rather than Banner to test how a Planet Hulk would look - which again I hope is made in the future.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I swear Enchantress was introduced in the first season of Agents of Shield as Amora, the episode when Sif showed up. Also I thought Hull was be used as a tool to cause their Ragnarok, kinda like that cartoon movie Hull 's Thor

The last thing this film needs is humor. But everything else sounds great.

With Batman V Superman looking like everything I could possibly want out of that movie this sounds lime everything I've ever wanted out of a Thor movie. I wish they weren't trying to brighten it up. Go dark with it. Go REALLY dark, like DC movie dark. The fact that this is the direction they're planning makes me very excited.

"What Marvel fans have come to expect"

How about something they don't expect?

They're gonna put off audiences if they keep repeating themselves over and over again.

sounded awesome until

the part where they were like "oh shit, this is too serious, quick we gotta hire a comedian to add a joke every 2 minutes!"

like really? This is the same Marvel that was so proud to brag about each of their films basically being a different genre... but oh lord a movie that's basically not yet another 200 million dollar superhero spoof movie? Quick, emergency!

I mean considering all the comedy, which sometimes ruins the drama / tension / emotional investment in the characters and plot, or

I mean considering all the comedy, which sometimes ruins the drama / tension / emotional investment in the characters and plot, or at least dampens it, as seen in multiple MCU flicks now from Iron Man 3 to both The Avengers movies -- movies that should've relied more heavily on the serious stuff, yet fell back on the comedic stuff. It works for smaller ones like Ant-Man, but Marvel needs to start toning back the humour a little bit, especially with Thanos coming up. Please don't treat him like a joke like Whedon did to Loki and Ultron. It just cheapens everything. More comedy doesn't always mean a better or even a more fun movie. It's a fine line...

Still excited for this movie, but I really don't like how they're taking what someone had, which sounded great, and once again 'saturday morning cartoonifying' it just because.

If its anything like from AOU dream sequence, then I don't doubt it. I just hope for a huge redemption from the lack luster Thor sequel.

Whilst not dark, Winter Soldier was serious stuff. Daredevil was dark and serious. What do both have in common, as far as I'm concerned...they're the best things by far in the MCU. If Thor gets anywhere near that level, I'll be a happy guy.
