Tom Cruise ain't afraid of no heights on this new IMAX poster for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

10.03.2011

Oh shit that's high. As someone terribly afraid of heights, this IMAX poster for MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL makes me extremely nervous. Tom Cruise is looking a little nervous himself but he does crazy shit like this all the time as Ethan Hunt.

Some of the scenes were shot in IMAX, this one is a good example. Cruise is hanging from Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world in Dubai. I bet this will look even more terrifying on IMAX screens. If you want to check it out early, you'll get the chance on December 16th but only if you want to see it in IMAX. If not, the film releases on the 21st.

Click on the poster to see it in hi-res over at the Pimpin' Poster Palace.

I like the poster. However, for a very high building and the floor that Cruise should be on (outside for this matter), shouldn't his hair be more flowy than this? I once visited Empire State building. My hat nearly flew off and my hair flew all over the place.

somebody has to get Niki Stephens off this site. Seriously, her articles sound like they were written by a four year old. No style or writing skill at all.

"Tom Cruise is looking a little nervous himself but he does crazy shit like this all the time as Ethan Hunt."

"The last time I saw THE FLY was probably in the early nineties. It was a bit gruesome for me at a young age so I never felt the need to revisit it."

and then this paint by numbers paragraph:

and then this paint by numbers paragraph:

"The first film was directed and co-written by David Cronenberg. That film was a semi-remake of the 1958 version from helmer Kurt Neumann. Both are derived from the short story by George Langelaan. In 1989, if you recall, there was a sequel with Eric Stoltz as Goldblum's grown-up son who is part human, part buggy."

Thank you for copy and pasting info you found on imdb and wikipedia. Useless.

Baloney. First of all, all movie news articles get a simple infodump paragraph at their end. This is basic stuff here and I'm surprised you only just noticed it there, in that one article. Second of all:

"Oh shit that's high. As someone terribly afraid of heights, this IMAX poster for MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL makes me extremely nervous. Tom Cruise is looking a little nervous himself but he does crazy shit like this all the time as Ethan Hunt."

There is nothing fucking wrong with

There is nothing fucking wrong with this paragraph. Nothing. It's not all that spectacular, but it doesn't really have to be. It communicates what needs to be communicated, and frames it in a way that personalizes the piece. Furthermore, even if you just plain don't like it - it fits the voice and style used by the whole staff, so that means you don't like the entire site! What are you even doing here?

Does he really do this stunt? Or is it a stunt man in the movie or SFX?

The poster works because we know Cruise was actually there on the Burj Dubai. Makes all the difference.

See, poster artists, that's all you need to make a kick-ass poster. Pants-shitting photography. This is definitely going to be my next IMAX viewing!

Man, they're really downplaying the whole "Mission Impossible" title. I thought the same thing about "Transformers," only backwards. It almost didn't matter what the subtitles were. They might have just as well been called TRANSFORMERS, TRANSFORMERS (AGAIN), and BIG FUCKASS CARS THAT ARE ROBOTS (BLONDE ASS CANDY THIS TIME).
