Tom Hardy to star in drama from LA Confidential writer Brian Helgeland

When I wasn’t getting enough Tom Hardy, I had to turn to the series he starred in THE TAKE. It’s good, but unfortunately there are only four episodes. I naively thought that they would get Hardy back for another season. Remember that episode of THE SIMPSONS when Homer pledges $10,000 he obviously doesn’t have to get the show “Do Shut Up” put back on the air? Well, this is one of those shows I would do that for. It’s not the only one though, and we don’t have time for me to deliver my list.

Good thing that Hardy now gets cast in everything including this upcoming gangster drama LEGEND from Brian Helgeland (L.A. CONFIDENTAL, MYSTIC RIVER) who will write and direct. The true story centers on twin gangsters, Reginald and Ronald Kray who were feared in the East End of London due to their dealings in organized crime during the 50s and 60s. Ronald was said to have schizophrenia. Both brothers were convicted in May 1968.

Hardy will take on the role of both brothers for the project. The actor confirmed his involvement, and spoke on how it will certainly be a challenging role for him:

I’m on that right now. I’ve got to work out how to play both twins, which will be fun. It’s another experiment and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself, I just want to have some fun and see what’s out there and explore with the work. The more of a challenge I give myself, the easier it is to take on more projects which are complicated in the future, if that makes sense.

There is currently no start date for LEGEND.
