Trailer released for gay porn drama King Cobra starring James Franco
You know, I like James Franco. I know he gets pegged as a pretentious art wannabe (which might have some merit) but the dude at least tries things. From his Oscar-nominated perfomance in 127 HOURS, to his great comedic turns in comedies alongside Seth Rogen, to having the balls to direct films based on Faulkner, to hell even doing f*cking soap operas, Franco always seems to be game. And I appreciate that.
This leads us to his new film KING COBRA, a crime drama set in the world of gay porn. Here's the synopsis:
This ripped-from-the-headlines drama covers the early rise of gay porn headliner Sean Paul Lockhart a.k.a. Brent Corrigan, before his falling out with the producer who made him famous. When Sean decides he'd be better off a free agent, a cash-strapped pair of rival producers aim to cash in by any means possible.
And here's a trailer:
Well, I'm down. Shit looks bonkers. While it looks to have a basic story template of "innocent gets involved in sleazy activities due to porn/stripping/etc." it at least seems to also possess a dark sense of humor - almost a mash-up between PAIN AND GAIN and BOOGIE NIGHTS (and only slightly more homoerotic) by way of Nicholas Refn. The great critical response doesn't hurt either.
|Extra Tidbit:||James Franco worked on a short film INT. LEATHER BAR. which was about him trying to recreate the 40-minutes of sexually explicit scenes from CRUISING.|
