Midnight, Texas

I need to catch up on genre television, because there are way too many shows that I have to admit I haven't watched. The X-Files, American Horror Story, The Exorcist, Supernatural (I am starting to make my way through that one), etc. Another one you can add to the list is the seven season HBO series True Blood. I never caught a single episode of that show, which was based on author Charlaine Harris's "The Southern Vampire Mysteries" series of novels.

In addition to the thirteen Southern Vampire books, Harris has also written a trilogy of novels set around the town of Midnight, Texas. Those books are now serving as the basis of an NBC series that will be premiering on the network Monday, July 24 at 10/9c.

Starring François Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Arielle Kebbel, Sarah Ramos, Peter Mensah, Yul Vazquez and Sean Bridgers, the show has the following synopsis:

Welcome to a place where being normal is really quite strange. From Niels Arden Oplev, the visionary director of “Mr. Robot,” and based on the hit book series from author Charlaine Harris (“True Blood”), comes a journey into a remote Texas town where no one is who they seem. From vampires and witches to psychics and hit men, Midnight is a mysterious safe haven for those who are different. As the town members fight off outside pressures from rowdy biker gangs, ever-suspicious cops and their own dangerous pasts, they band together and form a strong and unlikely family.

Pilot director/executive producer Niels Arden Oplev directed the 2009 version of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO and has the FLATLINERS remake coming out later this year. Oplev's fellow executive producers on Midnight, Texas include David Janollari and writer Monica Owusu-Breen.

A couple previews for the show have arrived online and can be seen below. I can't say they make me want to dive right in when it starts airing, so it seems this is going to be another one that I'll have to catch up on at a later date.
