Undead Muscle and Fitness! Get your first official look at Aaron Eckhart in I, Frankenstein!

Jul. 11, 2013by: Paul Shirey

The upcoming comic book adaptation of I, FRANKENSTEIN has been pretty quiet on the marketing front, but with Comic Con looming on the horizon, it looks to be kicking into gear, starting with the first official still from the film. Looking better "dead" than most do alive, Aaron Eckhart stands tall and shredded as the titular character, looking every bit as bad ass and imposing as Frankenstein should...albeit a lot "prettier" than we're used to. Eckhart's last foray into comic book territory yeilded a tremendous performance as Harvey "Two Face" Dent in Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT, so the actor is savvy to the genre at this point.

Get shredded:

 Here's a synopsis:

Frankenstein's creature finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans.

I'm certainly intrigued by this project, especially with veteran screenwriter Stuart Beattie (COLLATERAL, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT) at the helm with a script by Kevin Grevioux (UNDERWORLD). There is promise here. Let's hope for some footage at Comic Con next week!

I, FRANKENSTEIN, starring Aaron Eckhart, Jai Courtney, Bill Nighy, Yvonne Strahovski, Kevin Grevioux, and Miranda Otto is set to debut on January 24, 2014.

Extra Tidbit: I will champion Eckhart as Matt Murdock/Daredevil until the day I die...or until he's just too old for it.

I don't know anything about the movie, but as far as Aaron Eckhart is concerned, anyone who can get their body to look like that at age 45 sure as hell has my respect.

WOW...

When i think of Frankenstein I don't think of this, it looks like one of those shitty over the top, stupid comic book adaptations of a classic novel and film. I loathe movies like this... Some comic books suck lol

Aaron Eckhart was awesome in TDK...and was awesome in Battle LA. I have yet to see Olympus Has Fallen but no doubt Aaron Eckhart is awesome in that too. If I was Marvel, I'd snap him up for a movie just so slow poke WB's lose yet another quality actor for their universe - As Natascha suggested, Aaron Eckhart could make for a decent the Dark Knight.

Looks pretty ripped here, but he should be uglier in my opinion. I have no idea whether he will be a monstrosity or not, and I haven't read the comic, but Frankenstein's monster should be instantly recognizable, and I would not know this was him simply by looking at this picture.

I don't know.

I dig Eckhart, have for years, but he has a stinker or three on his resume. The premise of this sounds a little too high concept. Plus he looks like the Twighlight version of Frankenstein. A screenplay by the dude behind Underworld does not alleviate my concerns either. I hope I'm wrong because Eckhart should be a bigger star than he is.

I never considered it, but AE as Daredevil almost makes too much sense for anyone to actually do it. He is also on the level of stardom that Marvel likes

I never considered it, but AE as Daredevil almost makes too much sense for anyone to actually do it. He is also on the level of stardom that Marvel likes to cast actors: name recognition but not too much clout to demand a huge salary. Put he and Carnahan together and let it ride. I would definitely fork over my ten bucks for that.

Should be an interesting film.

Eckhart is a really good underrated actor who deserves much more bigger roles. I still think he would have made an awesome Captain America even though Chris Evans is perfect.
