Universal shuffles release dates, Your Highness to 2011

With YOUR HIGHNESS set to hit theaters on October 1st, I had figured that a trailer would most definitely be attached to prints of GET HIM TO THE GREEK this June. Now? Not so sure. Universal released their updated release schedule, which features quite a few changes including moving the James Franco/Danny McBride adventure comedy to April, 2011.

While I’m disappointed it means we’ll be getting the movie a good six months later than normal, I actually think an April 8th release date is a much better one than the October 1st date it had. If you’ve got a good product (which they do), why rush it in a month when it’d likely get lost. April has proved to be pretty good for fantastical films about dudes on quests (see: CLASH OF THE TITANS), so I think this will give David Gordon Green some time to finish up the film at his own pace (and probably also for Universal to figure out how they hell they’re going to market this thing).

Other shifts include moving the Matt Damon sci-fi romancer THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU to September (guess that means I need to take it out of my summer preview…) and to take its place in the summer will be Zac Efron’s CHARLIE ST. CLOUD. The M. Night Shyamalan produced thriller DEVIL (which has the unfortunate prefix THE NIGHT CHRONICLES tagged onto it) will open on February 11, CHEATERS will open on January 14 and the James Cameron produced SANCTUM 3D on March 4.
