Verbinski: Drama Queen

Gore Verbinski is one the few director’s in Hollywood that scream blockbuster. After directing The Pirate movies, it’s difficult to imagine him going back to a contained drama, but it looks like that’s what he’s chosen to do. Peter Jackson did it after his Tolken films and KING KONG with his upcoming THE LOVELY BONES, and now Mr. Verbinski is doing it with his as-yet-untitled film about a retired rancher who responds to a phone solicitation swindle that wipes out his savings.

Universal is developing the script written by Michael Gilio. I admire directors who challenge themselves creatively (take note Michael Bay), and look forward to seeing what Mr. Verbinski can do with this. Well done.
