UPDATE - Check it out now! And yeah, looks great. And yeah, can kinda see the studio's concerns that it might be a bit heavy for kids. Still, fortunately for me, I'm not a kid. So screw those guys! Weeeeeee!

Apparently the first trailer for Spike Jonze's WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE just debuted at the end of the Ellen Degeneres Show, and accordingly, should hit the net any minute now. Cinematical reported it, and their intrepid reader who caught it said that it didn't "look like a movie for kids at all." So, you know, awesome. Check back here throughout the day because we'll have it up as soon as it reaches the web. In the meantime, be excited. This thing looks spectacular.

I'm obviously in the minority here, but I can't be the only one who thinks this looks kinda stupid, can I? Just because something works as a book doesn't mean it will work as a movie as well. I'll give it a shot, but I think there will be lots of unintentional comedy in this one.

I can't stand it when they make movies and recast the main characters. I mean, where the hell is Neve and Denise? What's with the kid in the dorky onesy running around with Ludo? Is this a remake, a prequel, a sequel, wtf?!?! I guess no rack shots in this one....

Looks really cool, I'm impressed. Jonze and Eggers are a winning combo. I could tell that monster in the beginning was Gandolfini before he even spoke just from the breathing.

I haven't read anything else anyone has said, but this reminds me of the first time I saw Jurassic Park (I was 13), and there was an exact moment I gave into the "reality" of the film...watching two minutes of this reminds me of what that felt like...

Trailer looks real good! This whole idea to bring the story to the big screen and its feel /look somehow remind me of a Terry Gilliam type project.

Jonze and Coppola share the same cinematographer (Lance Acord), so there's that degree of separation for ya. On a related note, I'm bloody ecstatic for this movie.

OMFG! Awesome indeed. I got the moving interactive DVD version of this book for my daughter a year ago and she loved it. Might need to watch this first to see if she can but man that looks amazing!

Wow, just wow
This looks absolutely awesome... I hope the film comes off like "Dark Crystal" did for me when I was little. Parents were hesitant at first to let me see it, and it was scarier and much darker than my Saturday morning cartoons - but I'll remember how that film opened my eyes and imagination forever.

Freddyrich must have had a pretty poor childhood not to be psyched by a movie based on such a classic book. Add to that its sheer beauty and the fact that its in the hands of such an exciting director mean it could be potentially amazing.





Of course it could also be a load of leprechaun plop but I seriously doubt it will be.

I know I'm going to get beat over the head, because alot of people seem to want to see this movie, but I just don't see the appeal of this movie. As an adult, I have no interest in seeing this. It looks like a bad Muppet Movie. And why is that 11 year old kid wearing footies?
