Will Miles Morales appear in Jon Watts' Spider-Man reboot?

Ever since Sony decided to team up with Marvel to reboot the Spider-Man franchise, fans have wondered if the studios have any movie plans for Miles Morales, the Ultimate version of the webslinger. A rumor surfaced that the next Spidey wouldn't be white, but that was debunked once Tom Holland was cast as the new Spider-Man, who will make his debut as the character in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

COP CAR's Jon Watts has been set to direct the upcoming solo Spider-Man movie, and during an interview with Yahoo! Movies, he was asked if there had been any serious conversations about Morales being the main character.

I can’t talk about that, because, you know, that will reveal too much. We’re still writing the story…we haven’t finished all the way through the story yet, so who knows.

Obviously this doesn't mean he will definitely appear in SPIDER-MAN, especially in costume, but I wouldn't be shocked if he had a cameo appearance in the planned solo film, which could set up a future movie with Morales as the lead. Do you think there is room for two different Spider-Men on the big screen?

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR will be in theaters on May 6, 2016, while Jon Watts' SPIDER-MAN is scheduled to open on July 28, 2017.

this is obviously a non story

There would literally be no point into emphasizing that you want to both cast a peter parker that looks age appropriate, and to say one of your motivations for that is to have him presumably for a long time, if you were just going to set up his replacement in your first movie.

Please don't...

I'm starting to be really concerned that Marvel might replaced Parker with Morales, even though he's still popular and has been their flagship character for years. Bendis has a lot of influence at Marvel and if Morales appears in film, it's pretty much done.

After the huge disappointment that was Amazing Spider Man 1 and 2, please just focus on redeeming Peter Parker and not spending time on a character that we really don't care about to see just yet.

I gave you a thumbs up for the auto-correct. I was wondering who Barman was before I read your response.

No disrespect to Jon Watts but...

... I Wonder why Marvel chose him to direct the new Spider-Man ??????
I checked on imdb to see what he did and, well, pretty nothing... shorts, tv movies and 3 features films nobody saw and not very well rated by the way... They say Cop Car is a good movie, ok, maybe, it was released in 3 theaters in north america (is in VOD in France, not a good sign, maybe I will rent it)... so why choose a very unknown director, with no resume, not high praise to helm such a complex movie like Spider-Man

Are there not more known, and talented directors outthere who would love to do that movie ???? Am I missing something ?????

maybe because TWO studios are shaping this movie, they just needed a director who's a yes-man with technical skill. there's no room to risk an artsy director who wants to put his own spin on things when you've already made deals and money to sort out how this movie will work.

Well that's a yes, then.

If it wasnt even being considered, he's say no. Doesnt mean it'll happen, but they're talking about it.
