Your Review: Get Him to the Greek

06.04.2010

Believe it or not, GET HIM TO THE GREEK is already the best reviewed movie of the summer (at least according to Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer). JimmyO thought it was hilarious and even JoBlo himself reviewed the film and said he was cracking up! But now it's your turn to give it a review.

You've no doubt read all our coverage on the film including our interviews with Jonah Hill and Russell Brand, our exclusive featurette from the film, the first five minutes of the movie as well as our report from the Los Angeles set of the film. That should be enough to get you excited but will it be enough to make you like the movie?

We'll be leaving the Strike Backs open all weekend and encourage everyone to post their reviews below or like JoBlo did, on their MovieFanCentral page. Please keep spoilers to a minimum and remember, no insulting people who disagree with your opinion on the film.

While you're at it, you can also check out the GET HIM TO THE GREEK room at iTunes I noticed when I loaded up my music this morning. It includes all the music from the film plus a "Playlist Podcast" with Jonah and Russell.

Thought it was pretty funny up until the *spooooiler* three way scene and everything after which seemed to bring the entire audience I saw it with to a grinding halt. Solid up until that point. 7/10

Well what can I say. It was just as good, no, BETTER, then I thought it was going to be. I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in a while. Might be my favorite comedy of the past TWO years (The Hangover being the other one). Like everyone else has said, P. Diddy was the hilarious surprise in this movie, stealing most of the scenes he was in. Both Hill and Brand were excellent as per usual. This is a comedy that if you thought the trailers were funny, you're going to enjoy the movie. I'm having a hard time thinking of any flaws for the movie personally, as the 3rd act didn't bother me at all, therefor, I'm giving it a 9/10. I may just have to go see this a second time (and I haven't been to the theaters to see a movie twice in a loooong time)

I thought the movie was okay but it falls into the over emotional "were going to become a heavy drama in the third act" trap that all Apatow flicks (with the exception of Pineapple Express) fall into. I wanted to have a fun time with this movie but once the characters get to LA for the last 30 mins, it goes into serious mode and unfortunately never recovers. I actually don't understand why people think GHTTG so hilarious when I would liken it more of a tragi-comedy. All of the things the

All of the things the trailers/commercials have been enticing us with (funny drug use, over sexed behavior etc) are actually just used to show us how damaged the character of Aldous Snow is by the end of the movie and where is the fun in that? Still, it's better than Year One so I guess that's something.

Worst movie in a while

I love comedy, I loved Sarah Marshall, Russell Brand is awesome, but this movie sucked. I don't know if I saw a bad print, or what. The movie had horrible editing and seemed really disjointed. I felt that it must have been missing a reel or something. Half of the funny scenes from the preview were not even in the movie. There was no base jumping scene, no tai chi in central park, Aldous and Aaron's relationship didn't make any sense, the "medical" kit with the adrenalin came out of no

There was no base jumping scene, no tai chi in central park, Aldous and Aaron's relationship didn't make any sense, the "medical" kit with the adrenalin came out of no where, even though I saw a preview where Sergio gives it to Aaron. I was waiting, no begging for the end to come by the time they left Vegas. It did have some funny scenes and I loved the concept, but no points for poor execution. I almost want to see it again at a different theater, just to see if there was a problem with the print. I expected and hoped for better. 3/10

I liked it, but you're right! I was waiting for the scene after they binge all night when Aldous wants to go jogging and Aaron's simply like, "Wha....what....are you serious?"

Very funny! 7.5/10

Will "Get Him to the Greek" be a big popular hit like last year's "The Hangover"? Mmm... probably not, but you know what, this is one comedy that is completely entertaining from start to finish. The first 2/3s of the film are pure gross-out comedy, and it is funny stuff thanks to the comedic talent of Jonah Hill and Russell Brand. Then at the end, the movie takes a step back and matures a bit by exposing the faults and regrets of the two characters. There are a lot of nice moments at the end,

There are a lot of nice moments at the end, and I'm glad the makers took that approach. On the negative side, I think during it's gross-out comedy phase, the writers tried a little too hard, and some of the humor feels a little forced. And while I really enjoyed seeing Aaron (Hill) and Aldous Snow (Brand) interact beautifully at the end, I did feel like director Stoller got a little too sentimental with the way the scenes were portrayed. But aside from that, "Get Him to the Greek" is a laugh-out-loud comedy that teens and adults should enjoy.

7/10

It was entertaining and hilarious at times, but I wouldn't say it's great. Worth a watch, but for 10 bucks a pop? I don't know. I'd recommend it over the rest of stuff in theaters though.

Very funny. I saw it on 4 hours of sleep at a late show tonight, and NEVER got tired. Was cracking up at quite a few moments. All the actors were great, Jonah Hill, P. Diddy, and Russel Brand (really thought he was outstanding) did amazingly funny material. Go see it!

Really liked it

Very funny, no "dead comedy spots" like in other Apatow films. Brand carries the movie, I'm much more confident with him playing the Dudley Moore part in Arthur now.
