The legions of fans who played countless hours of ZELDA games on various Nintendo consoles have long been waiting to see those sprites and polygons turned to flesh and blood -- so they will undoubtedly be thrilled that a "top secret" live-action movie has been in the works!

IGN has an exclusive look at the trailer for the movie, which seems to have selected relative unknowns for the cast. The filmmakers have also given an appropriately "gamey" look and tone to the settings and FX.

The story follows young elf Link who undertakes a quest to recover the shattered Triforce and rescue the titular princess from Ganon, the "King of Evil". See it in motion below!

It looks like Link is exploding out of the body of a casual business man, like a phoenix from the ashes. (it looks like he's wearing khaki pants).

This movie looks awful. I agree with beatrix, make a real one. This movie looks...AHHH! Don't ruin one of the best game franchises with a terrible movie please....

wow!
even as a fan film it looks great....sometimes fan films are more passionate about the topic than big studios....shame they dont get budgets.

Well. I guess when it comes to producing April 1 hoaxes, it really DOES pay to be acquired by Fox.



It already looks better than Krull and "Dungeons and Dragons: the Movie" combined, and it's not even real. Maybe someday I can head to the drive in and catch a double feature, with this and Vinnie Chase as AquaMan™.



Of course, in the real Zelda movie, they'd have...

I honestly think that would be the only way to approach the Zelda series and do it any amount of justice. Some of the costumes and make-up were a little cheesy but get the LOTR design crew on that aspect and you'd have a decent fantasy flick and a --dare I say it-- good video game movie. The look was perfect for it, and kind of reminded me of D&D: Wrath of the Dragon God movie, which was...

I'm with Beatrix...definitely peaked my interest, didn't think it looked like shit at all for a fan-made project. Uwe Boll, McG, Ratner...stay the hell away from this property...

That looked even faker than the worst Sci-Fi Channel original, but it was still pretty awesome. I know it's IGN's April Fools prank; but if this was shown to studio execs, it could work to convince them to make it into a real movie.

Wow....
Even though it was obviously fake, the CGI was pretty great in a video game adaptation kind of way. I guess I'm the only one who thought that actually looked pretty cool. If there were big names and less of the cheesy dialogue, this could have actually passed as a real trailer.



I'm still surprised that Zelda hasn't been made into a feature yet. I was sure that, after LOTR,...

While I was watching I got the chills... it's be awesomeness if one day somebody actually had the guts to pull this off for real...

But with a better Link, although Malon wasn't too far off from the character I think.
