Polanski leaves Pompeii

Wow, despite working on the project for 9 months and possibly getting to play with Scarlett Johansson and Orlando Bloom, controversial director Roman Polanski has decided to drop POMPEII like it’s hot, due to scheduling conflicts. Hot on the heels of yesterday’s story about TRANSFORMERS not getting a sequel anytime soon because of the threat of next Summer’s strike, now Polanski opts out of this thing and ScreenDaily makes the guess that this might be for the same reason. The producers, Robert Benmussa and Alain Sarde said that “We understand that Roman cannot wait indefinitely for a start date after having worked on this project for more than nine months.”

Well in my book this is great news. I hate to see anyone hooking up with Scarlett Johansson. MATCH POINT was painful enough, I don’t know if I could take her getting it on with the CALCIUM KID. Hopefully when this thing gets up and running again Bloom will have dropped out to make the tenth PIRATES movie and he will have been replaced by Elisha Cuthbert or someone. POMPEII is based on the Robert Harris novel about a young engineer caught up in political intrigue as Mount Vesuvius is about to erupt.
