Chris Rock will host the 88th Academy Awards

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

For those of you who have missed Chris Rock being on the radar, the man is returning to the stage come 2016. The Academy has officially announced that Rock will play host for the the 88th Academy Awards. This will mark his second time as host, having entertained us at the event back in 2005.

Chris Rock has taken a bigger role behind the camera when it comes to his projects, having recently directed the Amy Schumer special Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo for HBO. Last year, he also wrote, directed and starred in TOP FIVE, which many considered to be his return to form (you can check out our review here). As glad as I am that he's being more selective these days, I do miss seeing the man in decent films on a regular basis. If he's willing to skewer a few while handing out some awards, I suppose I can tune in for that.

The 88th Academy Awards will air on Sunday, February 28, 2016.
