After original writer Gary Whitta departed GODZILLA director Gareth Edwards' STAR WARS SPIN-OFF movie (after completing a draft), the film has now found a new writer to complete the script. Academy Award nominee Chris Weitz, the writer and director of ABOUT A BOY, will now take over. He has a few other solid projects on his resume including directing A BETTER LIFE; his writing credits are pretty scattered over the years with his latest work being that of Kenneth Branagh's CINDERELLA.

We're still not exactly sure what the STAR WARS SPIN-OFF is about at this point, it’s said to take place outside the events of the upcoming trilogy. There was the rumor that it would be a heist film involving bounty hunters looking to steal the plans for the Death Star. As the movies casting stages get underway shortly, I’m sure more details will surface about the movies story as well. Last week there was the great report that Kate Mara, Rooney Mara, Tatiana Maslany, and Felicity Jones have all read for a potential role. So that’s something!

STAR WARS SPIN-OFF is scheduled for a December 16, 2016 release. What are your hopes for the spin-off movie?
