A new month brings a wealth of new Blu-ray and DVD releases, so now’s a great time to prepare and see what we have ahead of us in the month of April! You can always head to our BLU-RAY AND DVD RELEASE DATES section for a more complete list, but in this column we’ll go over some of the more popular titles hitting shelves over the next 4 weeks!

April 4

There’s one Blu-ray release that’s sure to dominate the entire month, and Disney is wasting no time in releasing it! The first spinoff from Disney’s Lucasfilm, ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, hits shelves on April 4th! While the supplementory material stays the same regardless of where you get it, it’s worth checking your local retailer to see what exclusive packaging you can get. For those of you not feeling Jyn Erso’s adventure, you can check out what Adam Driver is up to in PATERSON. There’s also OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY if you’re longing for the holidays.

April 11

The sleeper hit, HIDDEN FIGURES, follows a group of African-American women mathematicians who worked for NASA, and you can check out their story when the Blu-ray/DVD arrives on April 11th. We also get the aptly titled MONSTER TRUCKS if you’re feeling like some family fun. I use the term “fun” loosely. WAR ON EVERYONE, while sure to be overlooked, should satisfy fans of both Michael Pena and Alexander Skarsgard.

April 18

For all intents and purposes, M. Night Shyamalan is back with his latest feature, SPLIT, featuring James McAvoy in a phenomenal performance. Suffice it to say that that fans of Shyamalan’s early work owe it to themselves to check this one out! If you can’t get enough of DONNIE DARKO, a 4-disc limited edition hits this week. Lest you think the horror ends there, the cult classic TALES FROM THE HOOD finally arrives on Blu-ray.

April 25

The final week of April ends with a bang in what many consider to be the best film of 2016, LA LA LAND. While you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn’t seen the film yet, it’s certainly worth checking out if only for the chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. On the other hand, if you’re up for something far cheesier, Kate Beckinsale returns in UNDERWOLD: BLOOD WARS. There’s also the popular anime, One Punch Man, that finally hits Blu-ray this week. And that pretty much rounds out this month in terms of popular Blu-ray/DVD releases! Feel free to let us know which films/shows you’ll be picking up this month, and check back in May for more new releases!
