Want to know why Transformers 4 will be featuring a whole new cast of characters? Hasbro has the answer

Transformers 4 656 title

See that? That’s the the temporary logo for TRANSFORMERS 4 as revealed by Brian Goldner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hasbro. What he wouldn’t reveal is if there is any real creative meaning behind the separation, if it’s just meant to look different and thereby coincide with the company’s “new direction” of sorts for the brand.

And speaking of new direction, we’ve mentioned before that TRANSFORMERS 4 would have an entirely new cast of both humans and robots without mentioning why.  Well that “why” was something that Goldner was willing to reveal, and the plain fact of the matter is that TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON didn’t sell nearly as many toys as a small struggling business such as Hasbro might have hoped.  “This is why ‘Transformers 4’ will have a new cast of [robot] characters, and it will be a story revolving around these new characters” (which goes along with Michael Bay’s recent comments).  It is believed by Hasbro that, since the first three movies shared the same fundamental Autobot/Decepticon lineup, toy purchasing simply peaked at some point because there was nothing new to buy.

So if the TRANSFORMERS 4 release date of June 27th, 2014 rolls around and you’re getting all sad because your favorite Autobot or Decepticon is nowhere to be seen, it’s up to you to grab all your friends and plunk down some serious cash in support of that character.  Maybe then you’ll be able to see that robot in the inevitable TRANSFORMERS 5, and all will once more be well in the Hasbro toy-to-movie-adaptation universe.

Just don’t buy any more Battleship boards.  Please.
