Experience the Wizarding World of the 1800s in trailer for Hogwarts Legacy

If you've ever wanted to become a witch or wizard in the magical world of Harry Potter, then you're in luck. During today's PlayStation 5 showcase event, a variety of new games were announced, including Hogwarts Legacy, a single-player, open-world action role-playing video-game set in the wizarding world of the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart, which means that you'll need to make allies, battle dark wizards, and decide the fate of the entire wizarding world.

Hogwarts Legacy was developed by Avalanche and published by Warner Bros. Games under their Portkey Games label. "Hogwarts Legacy gives players control over their own experience with RPG gameplay unlike anything else in the Wizarding World, which will continue to build fan appeal in the Portkey Games label," said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Games. "Avalanche has brought to life this rich and deep world, full of action-packed magic, as well as a detailed, mysterious story to engage fans and gamers alike." John Blackburn, Avalanche's Studio General Manager, added, "It’s such an honor to work on such an amazing franchise and the team is dedicated to delivering an authentic Wizarding World experience that both Harry Potter and RPG fans will enjoy. Hogwarts Legacy is so special because it allows players to immerse themselves in a new narrative that is filled with complex characters, and, of course, magic." You'll be able to choose the type of witch or wizard you want to be as you master powerful spells, hone combat skills, and select companions to help face off against deadly enemies. The open-world will stretch beyond Hogwarts to new and familiar locations including the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade Village.

Hogwarts Legacy will be released in 2021 for PS4, PS5, PS4 Pro, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC. Speaking of PS5, the PlayStation showcase event finally revealed the price and release date of the new consoles, with the full console going for $499.99 and the Digital Edition going for $399.99. The consoles will roll out in US, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea on November 12th, before hitting the rest of the world on November 19th.
