Desmond Chiam and Miki Ishikawa join The Falcon and Winter Soldier cast

Marvel, superhero, The Falcon and Winter Soldier

Marvel's THE FALCON AND WINTER SOLDIER has added two names to its extended cast by welcoming Desmond Chiam (REEF BREAK, NOW APOCALYPSE) and Miki Ishikawa (THE TERROR: INFAMY) to the fray. Set for an August 2020 release on Disney+, the show also stars MCU alums Anthony Mackie as Falcon (aka Sam Wilson) and Sebastian Stan as The Winter Soldier (aka Bucky Barnes). Directing the series is Kari Skogland, whose previous work includes being a contributing director to such hit television series as THE HANDMAID'S TALE, NOS4A2, THE LOUDEST VOICE, and more.

Disney declined to comment about the castings, nor has any information about who either actor will be playing been made public. Details about the show are also scarce at this time, though it's to be hoped that THE FALCON AND WINTER SOLDIER will include the duo's jocular chemistry first witnessed in 2014's Joe and Anthony Russo-directed CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLIDER. Since that time, Mackie and Stan have appeared together in three more Marvel films, including CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR and AVENGERS: ENDGAME. At the end of Endgame, Captain America surrendered his shield to Sam, a plot element that is likely to be expanded upon when the new series lands next August.

With Chiam and Ishikawa  reportedly on board, the duo are set to join Daniel Bruhl, Emily VanCamp and Wyatt Russell for the series which will be executive produced by Malcolm Spellman. Bruhl will of course reprise his role as villian Baron Zemo for the series, while VanCamp will once again play Sharon Carter (aka Agent 13). Meanwhile, Russell will step into the role of John Walker, who in time becomes a character known throughout the Marvel Universe as Super Patriot.

It's true that much of THE FALCON AND WINTER SOLDIER remains shrouded in mystery at this time, but isn't it better that way? Too often do trailers, TV spots, and in-depth articles spoil much of the fun and mystery of a new adventure, and I'd prefer for much of this show to remain under wraps until its August debut next year.
