Zombieland: Double Tap trailer sets up a brilliant and bloody sequel

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Grab your running shoes, barbwire baseball bat, and don't forget your Twinkies, because an official trailer for ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP is here!

Directed by ZOMBIELAND and VENOM helmer Ruben Fleischer, ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP sees Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin returning to their roles as Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita, and Little Rock, respectively.

When the film arrives in theaters on October 11, the aforementioned zombie-bashing crew move to the American heartland as they face off against evolved zombies, fellow survivors, and the growing pains of the snarky makeshift family.

Joining the original cast for life after the apocalypse are Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch, Thomas Middleditch, Avan Jogia, Luke Wilson, with Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd rumored to appear as well.

For the eagerly-awaited sequel, Fleischer will re-team with original ZOMBIELAND writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (DEADPOOL 2). Gavin Polone is producing with Reese and Wernick also lined up to executive produce. Meanwhile,  Lauren Abrahams will oversee the project for Sony.

At the time of its release, ZOMBIELAND racked up a total of $102.3 million at the worldwide box office. While that might not sound like a lot when compared to some of today's Hollywood barn burners, it's worth noting that ZOMBIELAND quickly became a favorite among those who delight in over-the-top zombie-related antics. Packed with creative kills, harrowing chases, and plenty of side-splitting laughs, ZOMBIELAND was viewed by many as something of a breath of fresh air for the genre.

With even more action, entrails, and celebrity sightings planned for the sequel, I've no doubt that ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP will be another home run for Fleischer's laugh-out-loud life after the apocalypse.
