William Shatner jokingly says that he could play Deadpool

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Pretty soon there won't be a celebrity left alive who hasn't climbed aboard the DEADPOOL 2 hype train. Most recently, legendary Star Trek alum William Shatner took to his personal Twitter account to joke that he could see himself starring in the role of Marvel's Merc with a Mouth. Funnily enough, one of Shatner's 2.5 million followers on the social network is none other than DEADPOOL 2 screenwriter Rhett Reese, who responded to The Shat's bold claim by saying "Bill, this looks like a before/after pic, and you are the handsome 'after." To see the image that Reese is referring to, you can check out Shatner's post below:

While the gag is noteworthy enough in today's Deadpool-saturated climate, it was also an opportunity for Old Picard to showcase a bust of Reynolds' character that's to be part of a silent auction for Shatner's children's benefit the Hollywood Charity Horse Show.

"I bet many of you want your own @VancityReynolds bust with skin conditions from @deadpoolmovie for your library. This is made from the life cast done for the movie & painted by the SFX artist. One of a kind up for auction. Maybe an Avenger will buy it?" Shatner declared.

Wow! Would you look at the detail on that bust! Hey hey, I meant the item up for bid. Get your head out of the gutter, dear reader. You can save that schoolyard mentality for when DEADPOOL 2 slices its way into theaters this Friday!

Here's the official synopsis for the upcoming Marvel action adventure featuring the studio's deadliest merc in red pajamas:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
