Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) has been scoring films for almost 20 years, although he’s now entered the major leagues with films like MAD MAX: FURY ROAD and BATMAN V SUPERMAN under his belt. You may or may not have already been aware that he scored the upcoming DEADPOOL flick, and if you’d like to get a taste of how it goes down, he’s uploaded the track Maximum Effort to Soundcloud. Holkenborg’s music is kind of hit or miss for me. I think it worked wonders for FURY ROAD, helping to drive the pace and intensity, but this track doesn’t do too much for me. Then again, I wouldn’t exactly expect a movie like DEADPOOL to have one of my favorite scores of the year. In any case, I’m sure it’ll get the job done!
