Colin Trevorrow's JURASSIC WORLD looks to rekindle what was lost in the sequels to JURASSIC PARK, and by all accounts, it looks like it will succeed. Taking place 22 years after the events of JURASSIC PARK, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park as originally envisioned by John Hammond. With visitor rates declining, genetic mutation is implemented in order to create a new attraction. Undoubtedly this will backfire, and the composer who will bring the thrills and chills to life is none other than Michael Giacchino. Having won an Academy Award for his score for UP, Giacchino has been plenty busy lately scoring the likes of Abrams' recent STAR TREK films, as well as Brad Bird's upcoming TOMORROWLAND. Like any great film score, there's no question that John Williams' themes for JURASSIC PARK helped to make it the classic it is today. As you'll note in the second picture above, Giacchino will absolutely be implementing some of Williams' themes into his score for JURASSIC WORLD. He has a lot to live up to but he feels like the right man for the job. At the very least, something tells me he'll do much better JURASSIC PARK III's Don Davis.
