The living fight to survive in this new Walking Dead Season 5.2 trailer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I doubt there will ever be a day when we don’t get excited for a new trailer for THE WALKING DEAD. The second half of season five is set to debut in a few weeks and a new trailer has emerged showcasing footage from the final batch of episodes for the year. With each season trying out new locations, villains, and plot threads, this looks like a return to the first season with Rick’s group fighting to live on the road.

Everyone gets some screen time despite this trailer being just shy of two minutes, but there doesn’t seem to be any key foe on display aside from the elements and the zombies themselves. Rick seems to have reinstated his Ricktatorship as both Terminus and Washington, D.C. appear to be dead ends.

After the tragic events of the mid-season finale–as well as losing the possibility of a cure in Washington, DC–Rick Grimes’ band of survivors find themselves on the road, surviving day to day and trying to hold on to their shredded humanity and dwindling hope. Stripped of security and without a direction for the future, some of the group near their breaking point, some find themselves hardened and cold and some just try to grasp on to what little they have left. Though they are still breathing, the line between Rick’s group and the dead is starting to blur.

THE WALKING DEAD is still must see TV despite the plot starting to wear thin. The developing spin-off, code-named COBALT, will be set during the inception of the zombie apocalypse and will take place on the West Coast, so that should offer some fresh possibilities. But, with one major bad guy from the comic books on the horizon, is WALKING DEAD Classic running out of material?

Here’s hoping the second half of season five finishes strong when it premieres on February 8th on AMC.
