The Lego movie just got an actor with a particular set of skills and an anchorman. Will Ferrell and Liam Neeson have both joined the cast of LEGO: THE PIECE OF RESISTANCE. Alison Brie and Nick Offerman also have been added. They join the already cast Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, and Morgan Freeman. That is one heck of a cast for any movie, live action or animated.

According to Deadline, the plot of LEGO: THE PIECE OF RESISTANCE goes like this: Emmet (Pratt), an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average Lego minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant.

Ferrell will play the villian, President Business; Neeson will be the henchman, Bad Cop; Offerman is a pirate obsessed with revenge on President Business; and Brie is a member of Emmet’s team with a powerful secret.

I was lukewarm when I heard about the project despite enjoying the LEGO video games and animated short films. But, with a cast like this, my interest is definitely up. I just know this will probably result in hours of time assembling LEGO movie toys for my kids. Hooray!

The 3D animated film is slated for February 7, 2014 and will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (21 JUMP STREET).

Plus, it gives me another chance to run a sexy pic of Alison Brie. Yum!
