I’m confused, is this movie supposed to be historically sound? Because I’m no paleontologist, but I’m pretty sure there were never enormous jungle wildcats or prehistoric dudes with dreadlocks. Still, if that kind of thing is needed to make a movie cool, then so be it. I am there. 10,000 BC is the new film from Roland Emmerich, otherwise known as the guy who made INDEPENDENCE DAY, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW and GODZILLA. I’m secretly hoping that Will Smith is running around in one of those mastodon suits Jim Henson style, because Emmerich’s track record without the guy isn’t great. The flick is about a young hunter’s (Steven Strait) journey across a prehistoric world to save the chick he is in love with (Camilla Belle) from a vicious tribe. Or something something something mammoths. And even though this thing looks flat out ridiculous, I will definitely check it out because it looks crazy exciting and vaguely like APOCALYPTO.
