It looks like Ang Lee isn’t holding anything back in his upcoming period drama LUST, CAUTION as the MPAA recently slapped it with an NC-17 rating. The film apparently features “extended — and vigorous — lovemaking from a variety of provocative sexual positions” with Focus Features, which is releasing the film, CEO James Schamus likening the female lead to Maria Schneider’s character in the equally explicit LAST TANGO IN PARIS. Despite this, however, Focus expects it to be a major awards contender. As the immortal Seinfeld would say, good luck with all of that. The film follows a young, nubile Chinese drama student drawn into a sexual tryst and assassination plot by an affluent Japanese political figure. It’s set for limited release September 28th.
