A couple weeks ago, we shared the UK trailer for director Lee Cronin's feature debut THE HOLE IN THE GROUND, a creepy kid film out of Ireland that will be available for viewing in North America on DirecTV as of tomorrow, January 31st. With that release date about to be upon us, a North American trailer has arrived online, and it's a little different from the UK one. The new trailer is embedded below.

Written by Cronin and Stephen Shields, THE HOLE IN THE GROUND tells the following story:

Sarah and her young son Chris move to a new home in the Irish countryside, next to a forest that hides an enormous sinkhole. One night, Chris vanishes, and when he reappears he seems unharmed and unchanged. But, as his behavior grows increasingly disturbing, Sarah begins to fear that the boy who has returned may not be her son at all.

The film stars Seána Kerslake, James Quinn Markey, James Cosmo, and Kati Outinen.

I'm always in to check out a good creepy kid film (and earlier this morning posted a Face-Off article on the subject, THE GOOD SON vs. ORPHAN), so I'm looking forward to watching THE HOLE IN THE GROUND.

If you'd rather see the movie on the big screen, A24 will be giving it a theatrical release in North America on March 31st. Vertigo Releasing will be doing the same in the UK.
