While Trevante Rhodes gears up to battle THE PREDATOR, his MOONLIGHT co-star Jharrel Jerome will be venturing into Stephen King territory. Jerome has joined the cast of the Audience Network series Mr. Mercedes, which is based on the 2014 King novel.

David E. Kelley is writing the adaptation and will serve as showrunner, with Lost veteran Jack Bender (who also directed CHILD'S PLAY 3) set to helm the pilot episode. Mr. Mercedes revolves around

a demented killer who taunts retired police detective Bill Hodges with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.

Harry Treadaway and Brendan Gleeson will be playing the killer and Hodges, respectively. Jerome's character is Jerome Robinson, "a high school student who does yard work for Hodges. A good-natured wise guy, Jerome helps Hodges with his computer stuff, and puts up a home surveillance system for him."

Kelly Lynch is also on board to play the killer's complicated mother.

Ann-Margret had been cast as Hodges' prickly next door neighbor Ida Silver, but unfortunately the actress has had to drop out of the project due to an illness in her family. Replacing her in the role is Holland Taylor, who previously worked with Kelley on his series Ally McBeal and The Practice.

Produced by Sonar Entertainment, Mr. Mercedes is set to debut on DirecTV and AT&T U-verse this fall.
