The guys that made four of the seven SAW films (IV to VII) and PIRANHA 3DD have been given the tall task of bringing Michael Myers back to the big screen with the next installment in the HALLOWEEN franchise, reports THR. Those guys are Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, who will pen the latest HALLOWEEN entry for Dimension Films. Other than that, however, details are pretty much nonexistent.

Malek Akkad, who has been working on the franchise since the mid-1990s and producing the movies since the 2007 reboot, is producing with Matt Stein. He is the son of Moustapha Akkad, the man who executive produced the original films.

It has taken this movie so long to get off the ground that they don’t even know what to call the damn thing. Is it a remake, a reboot or a re-imagining? Apparently, it’s none of those as the site says that one source is calling it a “recalibration”. That’s a new one…

Melton and Dunstan also have an adaptation of THE OUTER LIMITS in the works over at MGM and the two have also worked on GOD OF WAR for Universal. And now this, HALLOWEEN. It’ll be interesting to see what these guys come up and if they’ll choose to ignore Rob Zombie’s films. More as we get it!
